Swedish medical education, as well as the entire system, is unlike any other. Not only is it mostly free, but it also helps you to focus on your goals without having to worry about your grades. As a result of the unusual character of education, an increasing number of students choose to study in Sweden. If you’re one of these enthusiastic aspirants, you’ll relish the challenge of studying at one of Sweden’s finest medical schools.
General Medicine: 5 ½-year-program
Medical school lasts five and a half years, or eleven semesters, which is much less time than most European institutions. Because it is an undergraduate degree, you can begin it right after high school.
A high school graduation is required, as well as completion of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics courses. Foreign applicants must be able to communicate in both Swedish and English.
Although education is free for Swedish, Nordic, and EU nationals, the cost of a Medicine student is projected to be around 1 million Swedish Kronor per academic year, when government financial aid and loans are considered. In fact, as long as the academic programs are offered at a public university (such as Karolinska Institute), any academic program in Sweden is free for the citizens named above.
