Turkey’s educational system

Every citizen of the Republic of Turkey has the right to free education for compulsory elementary school, according to the Turkish Constitution. Turkish must be taught as the mother tongue, except at properly licensed and foreign institutions. Since 2012, boys and girls have been required to complete twelve years of education, which can be divided into 4+4+4 years of schooling.
