Requirements for a PhD Program in Sweden

In general, to be admitted to a PhD program, you must have: a bachelor’s degree or higher from a university with a focus in the same subject as the planned field of study. A master’s degree is almost always required. A degree thesis presenting the outcomes of independent study must have been part of previous studies.

Have a strong knowledge of the English language. Swedish proficiency is also required in some subjects where lectures and seminars are held in Swedish.
